Hi Tom,

Quick question: I need to rough in a toilet in an existing tiled floor. What's the best (read: compromise between safest/easiest and cheapest) method of cutting the hole through the tile: some sort of "tile saw", sledgehammer and chisel, Dremel, etc?

A circular saw with an abrasive "blade" will work, but the few times I've done it, I just used my Dremel. Wear a mask to avoid breathing in the dust.

Moishe responded - and asked which attachment to use. My reply:

If I'm not mistaken, the one I used was the thick fiberglass abrasive
wheel...but for ceramic tile, Dremel recommends the Diamond Wheel (#545).

He can also use an angle grinder w/ a diamond wheel. This is more controlable than a circular saw. Havent used a dremmel for that so I dont know about that.
