Remove carpet tack strips glued to hardwood floors w/o damage to floors.
I would like to remove the carpeting from my daughter's bedroom. There are beautiful finished hardwood floors underneath, but instead of being nailed down, the carpet tack strips were glued. How do I remove them without doing damage to the hardwood floors?

Try mineral spirits (paint thinner, paint thinner not paint remover).

Mineral spirits is usually safe to use on wood finishes. Try pouring a little along side of the carpet strip, let sit for few minutes. Then try prying carpet strips up and let mineral spirits run under carpet strips to soften adhesive.
