Refinishing floors-timeline

We just bought an apartment that is a converted office building which was re-done about 4 years ago. The floors are hardwood and I think they look pretty good but my boyfriend really wants to sand/refinish them. We are also renovating our small kitchen which also has wood floors. My question is: Should we have the floors done (living room and kitchen) AFTER the demolition of the kitchen and BEFORE the cabinet/appliance installation?

My thought is to take advantage of the 2 weeks in between demolition and cabinet installation (they are custom and won't be ready any earlier). This way, the floors are done before we move in our furniture as well as the kitchen completion.

help!
Thanks.

After demo and before install would work. Floor guys would probably love you for that. They wouldnt have to sand around cabinets.
Just be very careful not to damage the floor when installing the cabinets and especially appliances.

The contractor did the floor before the cabinets when my kitchen was done. They covered the finished floor with taped together Luan plywood to protect it during later stages. It came out great!
