Painting Old Kitchen Cabinets

The cabinets in my rental apartment are dark brown from the 1970's looks like a satin finish probably some kind of varnish. The cabinets are in good condition with no peeling. I want to paint them white & avoid a lot of work like stripping or heavy sanding. what kind of primer & paint I should use to paint these cabinets.
Thanks,
JPP

Youll Need To Start With A Deglosser, And If Your Going To Paint The Cabnits Youll To Prim With Oil And Paint With Oil, Im Not A Big Fan Of Oil But Laytex On Cabnit Doors Just Want Last. As A Primer I Dont See Why You Cant Use Kilz, And Just Buy You A Good Oil Base Paint, High Gloss, When You Paint The Door Lay Them Down To Give A Better Finish Look, That Will Help The Brush Strokes Flatten Out

If this is a rental and you paint the cabinets without your landlords approval be ready to loose your entire security deposit.
