Need to Paint my new Condo

1 Answer Hi, We just purchased our first house. Its a two bedroom condo. I haven't painted even a wall before in my life. I asked for different quotes for professional painter, but everything seems to be pretty expensive and out of our budget. I have a 3-month old baby(I am breastfeeding) and 5 days to paint. Is it possible to paint almost 1000 sq ft condo in 5 days and if yes, what items exactly I need to paint. The condo was built a year ago and was occupied by a tenant for almost 10 months. The paint color is ordinary yellow. If I can paint the condo then what I need and how do I start. Do I need to sand first. How it really works. I am planning to buy benjamin moore paints. I am planning to paint different color in different rooms. How much paint do I need initially? Other than paint and brush, tray for paint, what else do I need? What kind of brush do I need? How to cover the appliances in the kitchen and switches in all the rooms. Its a carpet, what do I need to cover it? If paint spills how to remove it. I know I am asking too many questions, but if someone can reply in detail that will help. Thanks a bunch! |

| Painting all of it 5 days is tough but doable. I would suggest getting a power roller (not one of the roller sticks, but one that pumps paint onto the roller). That will cost you between $70-$100. As for how much paint you need, that depends on the color and quality of the existing paint. I would try scraping off a chip from the inside of a closet or behind where you will put furniture. Take that to a good paint store or a Home Depot or Lowe's. They will advise you whether you need under coats and how much paint you need for each room. Be sure and measure the wall area of each room. Remember to either ventilate well (though the weather may have a say in that) and/or wear a small filter mask. Good luck | ||||
