Mud Floor for Shower

I am installing a custom shower.
The drain is complete and the stub up is ready for a floor.

Question.
Are there any special requirements for floating a mud floor ?
Special type of mud ? Is ther an adhesive required to seal new mud to an already cement floor ?

Thanks everyone.
