It's hard to tell what kind of deals you can get in today's economy, but this might give you a rough idea.

    Hi, brbarn1!

The cost will vary some depending on the location. How the paint is applied, the sheen of the paint, the texture or not on the surfaces, whether the painter is supplying the paint or not and any repairs to be made will also make a difference as to the price per square foot.

So, it would be good to have some additional particulars from you here concerning those things as to what you're specifically asking about.

    Thanks!

I use xactimate in my line of work. It's a software program to build quality estimates. Most all insurance carriers require it. The above answers are good ones. "It really all depends on many factors." Also, xactimate has different sq. ft costs for EVERY city. A rough estimate will be 35 cents to 50 cents a foot. This does not include content manipulation ( furniture moving, pictures and such ). Two coats is about 50 to 75. I know the math is not there, however it's easier to put the second coat on. Expect to pay more if it's only one room. This is more accurate when two or more rooms are involved. Most painters still do not adhear to this xactimate unit cost. However, it's a good starting point. Tell the painter you will move everything and it will be cheaper.

I have been a professional painter for over 30 years and I am working on a 2567 sq. ft. house now. I do an above average job. For walls doors, jambs, chair rail and crown I charge 1.25 to 1.50 a sq. ft. LABOR ONLY. That is caulking and in general treating the house as if it were mine. I'm picky. If something takes three coats its included. Not sure what contractors make elsewhere. This is Memphis.. You can get it cheaper but as always you get what you pay for. I beat out a bid on the house I'm referring to that was less than 85 cents per sq.ft. And they were going to buy paint.. They would have lost their butts. If your slab foundation is 2000 sq.ft. times that by 1.50. Gets you in the ballpark, maybe a little high maybe low..

vipr2, is that sq ft on the slab? Or wall/ceiling sq footage?
