How to replace a rotting bathroom floor around the toilet?
Hi again: I need a lot of help. My daughter lives in an old mobile homee. The floor around the toilet in the second bathroom has somehow gotten damaged and is terribly soft. We are afraid to use the bathroom at all and need specific directions on how to fix this from beginning to end. She is due to have another baby in December or late November and we really need to get this fixed NOW. Does anyone have the time to help us? The toilet doesn't have a water inlet turnoff and neither she nor I are able to crawl under the mobile. Is there some way to just remove the toilet, tub, and sink then put down all new flooring and return the fixtures? HELP. Thank you.

    Hi Junebug...

Sounds like the toilet has been leaking at the base of the toilet or could even be leaking from the toilet to bowl connection or from the water pipe to do this much damage.. so will need to investigate the leak before starting project.

If toilet moves even a little then you can figure it is the wax gasket under toilet and this will be replaced during installation of toilet after floor is repaired so can proceed forward!

Anyway... I am a little concerned where you said you guys couldn't get under the mobile home... why? If it for an physical reason then I hesitate to advise you to start pulling fixtures and ripping out old floor, etc. as this is extremely physical work...

Do you guys have power tools... sawzall, skillsaw, etc..? I just need to know as much as I can before helping you get into something that you could regret later...

Answer my questions and then if you want we will be glad to walk you through steps involved in this process!

Congrats. On future grandchild... glad to hear you're watching out for her and your daughter!

Most of us work full-time around here so we come and go a lot... just leave your post and then check back periodically. Me or others will answer back tonight or early AM!
