making my kitchen cupboard look rustic

[F]Hi I am new in here and would like some ideas please
I want to make my kitchen cupboards look rustic
they are hanover cupboards in a medium to dark wood stain if at all possible I don't want to paint them. we like the wood look. we are going for a old west theme as we own horses and just love that look.
Any ideas would be great thanks.

You could add trim to the cabinets that is small branches from a tree. Bark is very rustic. You would have to select the branches carefully. If you get creative, you could do it without damaging the cabinets very much.

Also, you can change out the knobs on the cabinets to small horse heads to reflect your interest in horses.

Go to a kitchen/bath store and look at the variety of replacement handles and knobs. You will be surprised what is available. Western Hardware Collection

Google "western looking kitchen knobs" and try all the options, nobody will be dirt cheap but you will find 5x what i showed you.
