granite tiles

i currently have granite flooring in my kitchen. I would like to use the same granite to replace the tiles around my fireplace. Each 12x12 piece of granite weighs 5 pounds. Do I need to rig some kind of brace to hold the pieces of granite in place for 24 hours or is there some kind of adhesive that works immediately?
