Wood support brace under sink in granite?

Has anyone ever heard of putting in a support brace underneath an undermount sink when installed with granite counters? We had granite installed and the granite company put in a wood brace beneath sink. They said it needed to stay installed. This turned out to be impossible since it was directly beneath the drain holes in the sink.

I've spoken with other people who have undermount sinks in granite and they don't have support braces in their sinks. Anyone hear of this? Is it bad that I didn't put them back in when I installed the drain pipes and disposal?

no they use that as a support buy only temporary. its there till the glue sets up and then you pull it out. your installer may of been new to that and just told you what he thought was right.. i have seen small pieces of wood that were attached to the granite itself to hold but, id assume that you have a 2x4 in the center running down to the cabnit, if thats it its just a temp

If they need to support the sink (assuming it's a stainless steel sink ) it should be on the edge /lip of the sink., and not where the drain is.

It is a stainless sink, graniteguy. Since I had to remove the support to install the plumbing, should I look to put in some braces along the edge/lip as you mentioned to added support?
