    Cement board around bathtub
We are renovating our bathroom. We have cement block as the one wall. My husband needs to put up cement board so we can put up the ceramic tiles on the wall that surround the tub. What is the best thing to use for that? We have been told liquid nails... but will that be enough to hold it up? Thanks for your help. P

    Hi Patti,

Ceramic tiles will bond just fine to blocks using thinset mortar. I'm guessing you also need to shim the wall in towards the tub too. You'll need to install furring strips and then fasten and glue the cement backer. How much can you bring the wall in towards the tub? 2x4's flat on the blocks should work fine. That's a total of 2" in from the blocks.
