I just set 50 large tiles (8" X 10") above the installed fiberglass shower/tub unit/ THese tiles run along the top of the shower up to the ceiling, then along the sides in front to the floor. I had planned on grouting the tiles, with a color gout that would go well. I found a DAP product, tile and kitchen/bath, that is a much prettier color. this is mildew resistant, doesn't get hard nor stain, the only thing this stuff doesn't do is install itself. These tiles should not have any direct water hitting them,. My question is this. is it practical or even okay to just use the colored caulk I have described instead of using the mixed grout. THe caulk would certainly be easy to finger slide a smooth finish, and I believe would certainly maintain a waterproof seal on the tile. I have seen dining room tables made with tiles, and clear sealant caulk was used in the place of grout. Figured that the table would be more likely to have water spilled on it , that it would be ok.. i cant say id see anything wrong with it, they also make a tec grout, that comes in a tube, just like caulk but its a grout with laytex in it, you can get stuff like this a lowes or home depot,
but to answer your question i think youd be fine, i would use the mildew resistant caulk and a 100% silicone
