SGI vehicle rental

I have recently made a claim through SGI for damage done to my vehicle when I hit a deer (Nov 2007).I was just informed that my vehicle would be in the body shop for 3 days, so I need to rent a vehicle for that amount of time. I contacted SGI about covering the vehicle rental and was informed that my policy is a 2007 policy therefore they would not cover the rental. If it was a 2008 claim they would cover it. Has anyone made a claim and had something similar happen to them?

Why for heaven's sake didn't you report this to the insurance company right after the accident? They can and will deny anything to get out of paying anything extra since it is 5 months post accident. You will probably have to pay for the rental yourself. Just be happy that they are honoring the repair in the first place as they could have happily denied this as well (I've seen that scenerio happen before).

First if you waited from Nov to now to even make a claim, you are lucky they are processing it at all, What caused it to take 6 months for the claim.

But they have to pay for a rental if your policy included rental. So get the copy of your policy out and see exactly what was covered under that policy at that time

It's undoubtedly a date of accident policy, not a claims made policy.

If you had rental insurance in 2007 (the time of the accident) the rental car is covered.
