If you are looking for a business policy, call some of the larger insurance carriers that may also write commercial policies as well as personal policies. Most will expect a clear idea of what the nature of your business is so that the policy can be properly written.
Is your business incorporated? This protects you in case of a lawsuit that they can't go after your personal assets. It's not a necessity but you want to know how you want the policy named.
How many employees? How much experience do you/your employees have?
Do you have business property that you want covered (ie, vacuums, ladders, steam cleaners, etc.)?
This is just some of the information that you need to have on hand when you start making your calls.
I want to hire someone to come into my home and care for my elderly mother -- what type of insurance do I need. I was told my a friend that I might need workman comp since I am going to be considered an employer.
