On July 6th, 2007 I rented a rock rack from a implement dealer, and signed a contract that I would be responsible for any damage. On the 7th, I return the rake, and asked at the time for it to be checked in, Contract states,,,, Unit must be checked in apon return. They did not do that, nor did they even talk to me. They unloaded it and left. I went into the buissness to see if everthing was alright, and was told I was good to go. 4 day's later, they contacted me saying I did over 500 bucks worth of damage, and expect me to pay. First, I rented on a friday, returnd on a saturday, and they did not check it in on my return and I have a dated copy from them that it was checked in on the 10th tuesday evening. I was just told that they will take me to court if I don't pay. Now my question is, did they void there own contract by not checking it in while I was there, even after I asked? Or am I resposible for damages to an item?
Anyone?
