US Citizen Stuck in India

My husband, a US born citizen, has been in India working for the last two months. This is his second visit to India for work. He was last in India from April-June. He was supposed to get on a plane to return home to the US today.

He was detained and not allowed to leave India. Apparently, his work visa had expired. BUT, all he wants to do is to return to the US, not stay in India.

His company is working on a solution. BUT what can he or I do to expedite things?!

Help!
