    Passport Renewal Issue.
    I am from India living in US for last eight years I have not yet taken US citizenship and have a green card. When I submitted my passport for renewal the Indian consulate wants me to get a letter from the local government showning that I am not a US citizen. Where and how do I get such letter or what is the procedure to get it.

    Your green card. When you become naturalized, USCIS will take your green card and issue Certificate of Naturalization.

    To make sure you won't be another victim of scam or using fraud document which may jeopardize your status in the future, ask the consulate in detail.. what it is and how to obtain one, etc.
