Parents as dependents for L1B visa

Hi,

I'm in US on a L1B visa. Though my present stay in US is for short term and I will be returning back next month, I need to be back for a longer stay after a couple of months.

My widowed mother is dependent on me as I dont have any other siblings and I cannot leave her alone back at home.

Is there any option for me based on which I can bring her to US along with me as a dependent while I'm on a L1B visa?

If it is not possible to bring my mother as a dependent, is there any other option at all?
I might have to stay here for atleast one year for my next assignment.

Thanks in advance

I would think that since your own status is on a basis of time tenure, you would not be able to bring a dependent to the U.S. For the officials to grant that, then they would be, in fact, saying you are a permenent resident and can thus, bring a dependent into the country.
This is not the case. You have your own legal problem to solve before you can take on someone else's......even your mother's.

There is, I believe, a law that allows only a certain amount of dollars to leave the country all in one go.....should you think to send money to your mother for her support.
I believe the amount of $10,000 is the limit before the I.R.S. looks into it.

The term "dependent" here means spouse and children, not parents. She may visit you on B-1/B-2 but cannot stay longer than the date on I-94. Sending money to support her is a good idea..
