L1 to H1 - conversion & processing steps!

Hello,

My name is Sandeep and my query is, I am currently staying in US on L1 Visa(working for a company) and i filed for H1 which has been "approved". My question is what are my next steps to do ?

While staying in US, can i apply for a status change from L1 to H1 ? and start working for my new company post 1st oct'08 ? and get the visa stamped later when i travel out of US ? Also confirm if i can use the process for dependent too( L2 - H4) ?

Are there any immediate steps which i need to start after getting H1 approved? confirm

Thank you and appreciate your help!!
-Sandeep
