H1B Transfer | Breaching bond

HI,

I am working with an American employer(based out of NJ) and I am at the client site. joined them in June 06 and had signed a bond for working with them for the next 2 yrs. else have to pay $20,000.
Now I've got a good offer from another consultant with a good package and my H1 has also transferred.
Yesterday I wrote a resignation mail to my current employer then he said I've to pay him $20K.

help me!! Is this kind of bond exists?
What else he could do if I still join the new company?

. advice what to do in such case.
