F1 visa

Hi,

I am currently in US and I my OPT expires in May 2008. My employer is ready to sponsor my H1 for 2008 but there is a gap, can I get F1 visa from Kaplan or any other Univ. and continue working. Also do I need any kind of stamping to be done in US once I get my new F1 visa ?

Thank you in advance for the help.

Abhay
