disclosing arrest

i applied for citizenship on april 11 2007,since then i have already got fingerprinted but i just recived a letter from immigration department that fbi backgrond check has revealed that i have a arrest record and they have asked me to bring the police report and court disposition how case was resolved.

case was me and my wife got in a little argument and neighbours called the cops and they arrested me without asking me anything.i know, i was not at fault so i fought for it and judge dismissed the case againt me.

since i was under the impression that if case is dimissed, i dont have to disclose that in my naturalization.

my question is -will i be denied us citizenship because of my stupid mistake!!!!!!.beside thisi have nothing on my records.should i get a immigration lawyer or just go for the interview and explain them the situation. please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Explain yourself. Be completely honest with them. The more honest you are, the more they will work with you. I would wait to get an immigration lawyer until you have no other option. I wouldnt worry about it though, they have given people citizenship who have done worse

What type of dismissal was it? If it was dismissed with prejudice this would mean there was a lack of evidence that anything actually happened and this would look better for you when you bring the documents in to Immigration.

My guess is that this wont affect anything.
