De Facto Portuguese Nationality - Born in Goa 1950's
    Hello

My mother was born in Goa in the year 1952.

She has never made a passport and I wish for her to apply for one. In this respect she can apply for a Portuguese Passport, if I'm not wrong, and embrace her de-facto Portuguese Nationality as per the Law, she never really renounced her Portuguese Nationality. It is in her interest to exercise her right to that status.

Her knowledge of Portugal is average and her Portuguese though is not that great.

I am completely aware that my mother does not wish to work but rather use this benefit to travel in Europe. How do I go about this process of helping her out. This is a de-facto that she is entitled to as per the Portuguese Nationality law.

Let me re-assure you that we are an extremely well off family with properties in Goa and just want my mother to travel all around the world (she has never done much travel).
I would be grateful if you could help me out with the start to end process map for the same.

    *Certificates required.
    *Registration with Portugal (Lisbon)
    *Submission et all.

Note: She was born in Goa currently residing in Bandra (W) Bombay, and her uncle (her mothers brother) married a Portuguese national and to the best of my knowledge are still living in Lisbon.
My mother does have the paperwork of her mothers brother (marriage documents that were from Portugal)

I do appreciate the fact that you have tremendous knowledge on this subject and I feel strongly that this forum can help me out with this process.

    Regards

As per the rules you are supposed to produce an old document before 1961 if you are from goa. The document should contain the signature of a portuguese official and his seal.

FYI the process is very very slow unless your old documents are very very accurate. There are people who have been trying to acquire portuguese nationality for 8-10 years now.
