Citizenship and Work

I got my greencard in June 2005.

I understand that since I got my greencard through work, it will take 5 years till I can apply to the citizenship. However, recently I had an employment offer from a US company with an office in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai). My question: Is it still possible to apply for the citizenship if I leave the country with my wife and work for that company. If so, what things should I consider to make sure that I do not lose the opportunity of getting the citizenship

Thanks.
