american immigration

i have a green card since 1992
i was wandering if i could make a demande of citizenship from france
im in france right now and im afraid to loose my green card
my parents are old and sick and i dont know how long its going to be before i can go back to the states to live
but it is my intention
ive lived there since about 84 it was hard to get my green card and i ll b devastated to lose it
can anyone HELP
