Sod ropes go for glue:

South African robbers have shunned traditional gaffer tape and deployed a new weapon to subdue their victims: superglue.

An unnamed man was grabbed in the street and driven to his home, where a gang stripped him and superglued him to the seat of an exercise bike. They also glued his feet to the pedals and hands to the handlebars. Finally, his lips were sealed with the adhesive.

The South African Press Association reports that the four robbers were heavily tooled up with handguns and an assualt rifle, and wore suits when they abducted the man in his fifties. They took cash and valuables, and drank their immobilised victim's best whisky as they ransacked his house.

Paramedics used a combination of Vaseline and solvents to free the man.

Kidnap-robberies, where the victim is taken from the street and forced to direct the crims to their home, are not rare in South Africa, which suffers one of the highest crime rates in the developed world. On the flipside, at almost 14 Rand to the Pound, superglue is pretty cheap.

Ouch! The exercise bike situation reminds me of a fantasy I used to have about an ex boss of mine. But, it involved ropes and .... ummm. sorry. off topic.

I am not surprised by this. It was only a matter of time that those guys figured that one out.

We had a story in the U.S. about a year ago where someone put super glue on a toilet seat in the public bathroom of a large chain super store. Another person sat down and was stuck to it. Made for a rather embarrassing situation and the guy sued the store for the way they handled the whole affair and the fact that he was physically hurt the way they tried to disconnect him from the seat.

What I couldn't figure out is how it happened that he sat on wet super glue. That stuff dries pretty quickly.

LOL. That brings to mind an incident that happened back in 1974. I was working nights at one of our hospitals and I was already in the ER for another patient when this man and woman came into the ER. It was like 2:00 a.m. The man was cursing like a sailor and the woman was smirking. Turned out he was having an affair and his wife found out. When got home from his rendevous with love, the wife was awke but acted like she was asleep. he came to bed and went to sleep. She got the super glue out and glued the tip of his anatomy closed. He got up an hour later to go the bathroom and had problems.

So then the trip to the ER. He ended up having surgery, a week stay in the hospital. His wife served him divorce papers there.
