Answer this riddle

3 men rent a hotel room for 30 dollars.they split it 3 ways and pay 10 dollars each.the hotel clerk latter decides to give them a millatary discont of 5 dollars he gives the 5 dollars to the bell hop and tells him to give it back to the men.the bell hop says he can't split 5 dollars 3 ways so he gives them each 1 dollar back each and keeps 2 dollars for him self.now the men have only paid 9 dollars each for the room.9x3 is 27 dollars and two dollars for the bell hop is a total of 29 dollars .what happened to the last dollar?

The "hook" is the suggestive notion that causes the reader to try to change directions in the middle of the equation. $30.00, minus $3.00 ($1.00 to each man) = $27.00. From there, you continue the equation in the same direction ($2.00 to the bellhop = $25.00). Still, a clever riddle.
