My first choice would be something about corporate culture. For instance, in the U.S. the Baby Boomer employees are aging into retirement but are still vital employees, yet the 20-somethings are champing at the bit for more responsible positions that the Boomers are still occupying. How should management and HR handle this to keep both groups happy? What about the employees in between the two cohorts? Should promotions be given because of seniority? talent? connections/nepotism? Should the Boomers be made mentors of the younger employees? Should this be forced or natural? What do the younger employees have to offer the older ones, aned vice versa?

Somewhere in the dissertation process, you will need to run a survey or some kind of poll or an evaluation, probably at several companies of various types or maybe at only one organization that will be picked apart thoroughly. The evaluation will have to be very well thought out since it will be the skeleton upon which your place the meat and muscle of your research.

Talk with your advisor and toss around dissertation topic possibilities and what will be needed--proposal, lit review, research projects using a range of diferent procedures, how long the dissertation should be, its form, the bibliography and how long it should be, footnotes or endnotes, etc.
