    The bump
Have you had your ear pierced? If so, it could be a keloid scar. If not, it may be just as minor as a pimple.

    Lump
    Hi,
    PLEASE see a doctor!
A lump could mean nothing bad, such as a lypoma, which is just a lump caused by skin oils, and is not harmful.
It could also mean something more serious, especially if it continues to grow.
For your own peace of mind, and to know what it is, see a doctor.
    Best wishes,
    fredg

Mosquito bite? Wart? Pimple? Swollen lymph node? Tumor?. in any case check it out. The laugh you might get from a doctor if its just a pimple is far better than the silence youl get if you were a bit too late in getting it checked and it's a tumor

I have a lump behind my right ear also, it is right behind the middle part of my ear about an inch above my earlobe. I would say it is in between a half centimeter to 3/4 of a centimeter, it feels hard and doesn't hurt at all. Not sure what it could be, I don't have a bump behind my left hear at all. Its like right behind my ear but before the hairline too.

The lump behind your ear could be a sebaceous cyst or a lymph Node. They can take months to reduce or sometimes they stay enlarged. Fred, is right, you should go see your doctor.

Do you think it is my postauricular lymph node? What would cause that lymph node to swell? Could it swell from a clogged ear from was or a wisdom tooth partially coming through on that side of my mouth?

If it's the size of a golfball almost, go get it checked out immediately! Ive had a hard lump behind my right ear for over a year now. Its about the size of a golfball and its hard as bone. It doesn't hurt to touch.

I was getting headaches in my lump so we finally went to the doctor about a month ago. They did a cat scan. The doctor thought it was a tumor! But it turns out that there's nothing I can do about it because its not a tumor, its just an imflamed muscle... what ever. I don't know what to do. They said it's the result of severe migranes..?

And now the back, bottom part of my skull is swollen! Every time I turn my head to the left it pops.

I need help. I don't know what to do :(

I have had a bump behind my ear for about 2 yrs. Th docs gave me allergy meds and said maybe it's a swollen lymph node that never went away. Anyway, a couple days a go I got pimpl like swollen painfull things on the front of my ear. Surface area. Why the coincidence? Is it related? I wish I knew...

I was just going to ask about a hard lump I have behind my ear, which I have had for almost a week now, when I just saw the possible answer from Avarick.
I was at the dentist last week and had a root filling, so I'm hoping that this lump is connected with my visit.:p
I will see the doc but I feel a little better. I haven't needed dental treatment for years, and the second I do I get this lump. I would never have made a connection without this site, thanks all! (but I will go to the docs just in case!)

I just found the same type of thing behind my *right* ear... it's a little weird that everyone seems to be getting it behind their right ear. At first I thought it was a blind pimple, but they usually hurt much much more when I get them. It's about as wide as my pinkie fingernail, but it doesn't stick out that much. I hope it isn't anything bad..

I get these purple lumps behind my ear, ( in between my earlobe and my hairline) They are soft lumps, at times they do hurt and times when they just itch. I've gone to a doctor and he prescribes cream for them... I started getting them behind my right ear 2 years ago and now get them behind both off and on... they grow to various sizes then drain on their own. This is the 3rd time in 3 yrs I've had them.

Hi all! I found this website and post as a result of a "lump behind my ear". I was hoping to get some answers.

I first got a golfball size lumpon my ear when I was 8 years old (18 years ago). I had it operated on and most of this "cyst" was removed. A similar problem came back but near the front of the ear (swollen). I was told that it couldn't be the same cyst as they don't move.

It would come and go and I still don't really know what causes it. A lump behind my ear also daily swells up and never really goes away. I can't sleep on the one side of my head and I often get headaches and neckaches.

I have seen many specialists and had a few CT scans and there isn't really anything any one can tell me. I guess I am lucky (for now) because it doesn't seem to be a tumor or cancerous, and for that I am very thankful.

I just wish there was someone who could tell me something I could do to reduce the pain and tell me what causes this.

Thanks for letting me vent. It's been a long 18 years.

A postauricular lymph node swelling is because of either ear infection due to excess hard wax or due to scalp infection aka dandruff.
Check with the ENT for an accurate report and the faster you get it checked, the faster it goes away.

Hey, I had one once. It's benign so you don't have to worry. If it's he same thing that I had then it's a cyst. Mine grew over the ears and it started to make me look really weird and I was uncomfortable going into public areas. It can be removed by simple surgery so go check it out at a doctor before it grows any bigger!
