html How do I make a search box?

Hi, and thanks ahead of time. I'm going to have to have a database on my website that can be used with a search engine.
But I want to know what I can do using only html if I can.
Like if you wanted to look for a park in your area you would just input your zip code,
and the park that is closest to you would come up. Do you know how to do that using html? IF it can't be done with html what is next easiest. Thanks;Darrel

Search Box

I think I understand what your getting at,but I'm not qualified to write html code .What I would suggest is you have a look at http://dictionary.reference.com/help...searchbox.html

They have several 'colored' layouts to choose from. You can paste any design into YOUR web site. The search parameters are for dictionary, theasaurus, and websearch.

View the HTML code, and maybe you can get some ideas from the way it works,if you dont know already that is.

I know that my answer is'nt very good, and I do know what you have in mind for your own site, but think of all the time, effort, resources that have gone into any well known search engine. It's very clever stuff.

For a personal site,it's a mini search engine,so that anyone can find quickly anything about your site. The easy answer would be to just name your linked pages. Home-Media-Feedback-Sitemap-etc.

However,if you like a challenge, then you've certainly set yourself one.

The best of luck to you,
Nez.
