English/Language Arts for Middle Grades?

I'm looking for a user-friendly good English/Language Arts for homeschooling 6th & 8th grades. Has anyone used one they really liked and can recommend?

Our curriculum is religion based and it may not be what you want.

Although, we didn't enroll our children in this school, we begged, borrowed and bought these books real cheap from parents who had.
