Odd smell in house?

Before the smell we had our monthly checking for mice and bugs. As almost always they didn't find anything but he sprayed this stuff that kills them around the house, this odd smell is all around the house except in a few rooms that there doors were closed and were not sprayed in. It's not as strong upstairs, but downstairs I have to cover my nose and mouth and I can see it a bit in the sun. I have a Cockatiel also.

So I have three questions.

1. Is this smell going to make me sick?

2. How can I get rid of it?

3. Will it kill/make my cockatiel sick?

Sorry the third question is off the home safety topic!

Oh and I forgot to add I'm not sure if it was the spray, he never sprayed it so much that it had this effect.

From my own personal experience with anyone spraying for either bugs or rodents I find that I am allergic to the material they spray whether "odorless" or not. And yes, it can kill your bird as they have extremely delicate respiratory systems. The fact you cannot smell anything in the rooms and areas that were not sprayed tells me that whatever they used it is building up hence you had to cover your nose and mouth. If you are that freaked out about bugs, try to use a powder such as boric acid - found it most hardware stores and even at the supermarket instead of spraying "professional spray" around your home. Also mouse traps work wonders versus spray, spray, spray. As you can tell, I'm not a big professional chemical spray fan and don't use their services - never did.
