So disconnect it. Merely cancelling your service does not turn it off, it merely means they no longer monitor the service. The light could ( and most likely means) that the monitoring is not working, So you will need to turn it off at the main center ( and unplug and take battery out).

Also have you tried entering your code to turn it off.

I still want the chimes to sound when the doors are open. Yes, I entered my code and this does nothing now. It stopped it from beeping for a few days but now it beeps all the time even when I enter my code. The only way I got it to stop was to disconnect the power wire and disconnect the backup battery. I still want the chimes to come on when my doors are open.
    Can anyone help?

What is the make and model of the system, there may be some online instructions for that model.

Someone will have to go into Installer Programming, and "Disable Communications", and "Disable Telephone line monitor"
Should be a Phone Jack near the panel with a Large Phone cord(RJ 31X), unplug it. You should still have phone service, if you unplug it and lose phone, then a jumper in the jack may not be springing back.
Problem is, ADT will change the Installer Code from the Default.
Try *85010, if you see red lights flash, press ## and come back, will tell how to correct.
They won't give you their installer code, but would be nice if you could get them to change to a code you want, or default.

Model # PC1555. I unplugged the phone jack in ADT box and house phone still works fine. Do I still need to try *85010 or is that just if I lose phone line?

The *8 and code allows you to remove telco monitor and disable communications.(trouble light)
Unplugging alarm connection only keeps panel from trying to continuously dial out and restore normal phone service.

Turned out I have panel model PC5508. So I entered *85508 ## and the 15 second beeping has stopped but now the doors do not chime when open. How do I get the doors to chime again?

Well now the 15 second bepping is back again. *85508 did not help. What else can I try for model # PC 5508? I reset the door chime with *4 from the manual.

Try *2, then tell me what happens.

    Try ##, or arm/disarm.

I haven't had ADT for 3 years now. However, twice within an hour the smoke alarm went off. There is no smoke nor fire. I was able to shut if off by keying in the code that I had when I paid for ADT. Why is it going off?

Could be a bad detector, problems with the wiring?
    What system do you have?
Do any of the detectors have a red light?

Thanks Stratmando, back in Sept. of 2010 you told someone to try the number *81555 ##, it worked for me! The yellow trouble light is still on but at least it's not beeping. We have an old DSC PC2550, the previous owner passed away, so when we moved in we weren't given a master code to the alarm. So we've never used it. Is there any way to get the code so we could put in our own codes?

    Thanks Lisa

I would have thought it to be *8 2550, the Default code for the PC 2550, Not the PC 1555?
Either one that gets the red light flashing, shows you are in programming mode, then press 25 CODE ##.
Enter your personal code in place of CODE, the ## exits programming.
Which LED lights when the Trouble light is on and you press *2?
Do you have the User Manual? Program Manual?
If you make a Mistake, Press ## and start over.

Your good. This helps people who no longer have their service. Doesn't help burglars it as doesn't help when armed, and the trail.
