I'm sorry, but you're asking someone to spend hours and hours not only emailing, but calling every insurance company in West Virginia. We're all volunteers on this site, with jobs, kids, and more. We really don't have the time to put in that kind of work to answer your question for free.

I'm afraid that this one is on you. You're going to have to keep calling around, and hope for someone to agree to insure both.

    Good luck.

You may need to look into separate insurance for each. Some companies will insure up to certain weights of dogs, some only certain breeds. You can have two insurance coverages.

    Good point.

I have to say, it is unfair that pitbulls require special insurance coverage. I'm a dog lover, and I know many people with pitbulls that have never had an issue, and many people with teacup poodles that have torn of a finger from somebody. But, you don't need special insurance for a poodle. Pitbulls have gotten a bad rap. :(

But, I am, by trade, an insurance underwriter. As such, I can tell you that when an insurance company looks at a risk (when you call for insurance, you're the risk), they look at stats, and determine if the risk is worth taking. Pitbulls, sadly, aren't a good risk when it comes to insurance, so there are limited numbers of insurance companies that will take one on. If you found one, then go with it. Insure your home with another company that accepts you.

Can you get coverage exclusively for the dog? Some companies will literally offer pet insurance that is apart from your home insurance. For example, I have home owners insurance through a company that excludes dogs. I can have "dog coverage" (for the possibility of bites) separately from a different company.

You are allowed to have policies with two different insurance companies. Insure your dog with the company that has agreed to, and insure your home with the other. Many times, if you remain claim free for many years, one company will agree to take on both risks because you've shown that you're a good risk.
