Smart card ain't being smart and letting watch me TV

Satellite TV. I'm trying to watch TV on FMLY channel(which is the only good channel on my tv) but it says the smart card is not authorized to do yada, yada or whatever. It also says to wait, but how long am I going to wait? And, why isn't it working?

Ham,

The msg. you are getting is more than likely just letting you know that you need to contact the vendor of your TV system and arrange to have that station released to you.

You are on a cable or satellite system, aren't you? Smart cards have holes programmed into them that let the host (Cable Company or Satellite Company) control what stations are available to you. If you pay for the tier of service that includes that station you get the station. If you don't, then you get an error message.

So, pick up the phone, call your service provider and find out why you can't get this station.

BTW - you are using an authorized smart card, not a cloned or reprogrammed card because you know using one of them is illegal and is considered a "Theft of Services". Very nasty fine and then of course the servicer comes after you.
