Change lamp to 3-way socket and bulb but it doesn't light

Re-check your wiring, your bulb, and the plug.

There is nothing special about changing a 1-way lamp socket to a 3-way lamp socket, so if the two wires are attached it should work.
  • Check wiring
    Make sure there is a wire under each of the 2 screws
  • Check bulb
    Try it in another lamp (even if it is a 1-way socket)
  • Check plug
    Make sure it is secure

All this assumes you actually have electricity at the outlet you are using.
