    Amp and cap need help!
So I have a 20 farad cap hooked up through a 4000 watt amp, which in turn is connected to a 12 inch audiobahn immortal sub. I have all of it connected, the problem is that sometimes the amp will be on, other times it won't. And the cap makes a whining sound that increases while the positive is still connected. The remote, positive and ground wires, RCAs and sub wiring should be correct... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Whining sounds are usually the sign of bad caps. Are you certain you have it hooked up correctly. Did you confirm that the amp will always run without the cap ?

Does the whine go up and down with the RPMs? If it does you have a ground problem. You need to make sure that the ground mount must be free of paint and attached to the frame.

You should do what morrow said and hook the amp up without the cap first if your sure its not a ground problem.

Let us know what you come up with.
