How much is charged by the square foot for a paint job does depend on a lot of factors. Please see the information on the following links concerning that.

http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/interio...id-195990.html

Around where I live, the average cost is about .70 cents a square foot for only labor for two coats, not including the preparation, primer or the cost of the paint that is used etc. That is also for a perfectly smooth and flat surface and the paint would be cut in with a brush and rolled on the walls and ceilings.

For trim, around where I live, the average cost is about $1.20 per linear foot for two coats. And, that is only for the labor. I am sure that where you are, the price might even be double for the labor per square or linear foot, and maybe also for the materials used.

Adding the variables such as preparation, priming, sanding, texture of the surface to be painted, maybe moving furniture, lawn ornaments, etc. will also add to the cost.

I find that asking general contractors of construction is a good way to find out about the prices charged in any given area. Also, paint store employees can be a big help.

If you put the two words painting estimating, into the search rectangle at the top of this page and click on "Search" you will find a lot of threads where paint job estimating and the square foot price is discussed.

Are you asking the question because you are wanting to get into the business?

stp70 : Your answer to my ? was VERY helpful, thank you. Also, I NEVER thought of asking asking a paint store employee, dont know why, but thanx for pointing that out too.
