| License(s) - probably need one for each city, county and maybe even a state license.
Insurance - get quotes from agents, maybe start with the one who writes your auto and/or homeowners insurance and, if you are aware of any associations that contractor's are members of, ask them about joining the assoc and if there are any discounted rates for insurance that might or might not be availble.
Bonded - each state, city, county, has their own requirements as to bonding, some require, some do not - just ck with each one you plan to work in while you are asking about licensing. Most license and permit bonds for contractors are easy to obtain, financial stmts are usually not required the the surety (bonding company). You may not even have to sign a bond application but will, of course, pay a premium of probably about $100.00 a year per bond. |
