I am wanting to start my own Medical Billing Service from home, but I don't know what all I need...licenses, permits do I have use a DBA or can I just use my name? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I am in Illinois if that matters.

yes, state licences, a business number would be a good start but do you have any medical background in order to understand proper terminology in these fields;

Pathology Billing
Radiology Billing
Anesthesiology Billing
Pain Management Billing

Would you be billing for general practitioners and specialized physicians.

You have a lot to think about here before you even get down the licensing and permits.

Yes, I have fifteen+ years experience in the medical field 10 of those have been doing billing for specialists.

Janet, I did a search and came up with a website that tells you everything you need to know about starting a medical billing company but unfortunately the page cannot be accessed. Being a home based medical biller and business owner I can tell you from experience that you are not going to get the answers you need here. There way too many things to discuss when thinking about entering this industry and it would take days if not weeks to write it all out in this type of forum.
