need to fix my skirt quick

does anybody know how to take the waist in on a skirt i need it for tomorrow ive got the sewing machine and thread n tacking pins,but do i start from the join were frunt piece meets back at the sides or do i like my mum said do it were the pleats are which i think will make it stick out but i dont no ive never alterd a skirt

can anybody explain were to start ect

I always start at the sides of a skirt , if there are no pleats and take equal amounts off each side. that is if the zipper is in the back .

thanks lol ive done it now took me till 2 am but i did it lol doesn't look to bad either,ive done hems n stuff just didn't know were to start lol i had loads of ways in my head how to do it but just didn't no which one would be quickest

and to make it worse i lent the sewing machine to a friend and she had messed with all the dials i did the hem turned it over to look at the back n it looked like the cat had had it lol so i had to undo it all and then get old t shirt and try and sort the tension out and figure out what else she had been messing with
i wouldn't mind but i gave it to her with all the dials set in right places so she could get the things she had to sew done straight away but no she had to mess with things she didnt know about

got it done in the end
