ask a tattoo artist

Hi,
i want to get a tattoo and i know exactly what i want to get.. I'm wondering how i could explain to the tattoo artist easily ... and am hoping that it won't look that tacky .. u know what i mean ..
i want a tiger tattoo but not the face or paws .. just the fur ..
it would start from my upper back and move up my neck a little bit .. i want it to look like i am part tiger part human (i'm a girl by the way so i don't want it too masculine)
like when you seen in the movies of how a werewolf starts to change when there is a full moon.. does anyone know what i mean..
help !
thanks : )

My ex kept describing how he wanted a tatoo but cant draw worth crap so we went to a tattoo parlor described it to them and asked if they could draw a sample. You could call around your town to see if one of your tatoo parlors will be willing to draw a picture of what you want before you follow through with something so permanent?

Look on the internet for pictures of the type of tatoo you want.

Both of the above suggestions are great....just make sure you are shown what exactly they are going to do before they start inking away

Hello,

This opinion is from 19+ years of tattooing.

You explained yourself very well. Any real artist can do this for you (not a flash tattooist). Find someone who does custom work. Make sure they can back up their bragging with an extensive portfolio. Ask a lot of questions about new needles and safe practices in the tattoo area. If they don't seem happy to help you, leave.

A lot of talented people are tattooing these days, so don't settle, and don't be cheap. The best scenario for what you are looking for, would be to have the designed sketched right on you. This would flow better with you body lines. If someone can't do this, leave.

Be patient and picky... you should be the purpose of your tattoo artist's day, not an interruption. They should be as excited about doing something this cool as you are. Good luck.

Inking of you,
- Smooth
