Although well-meaning, some people that post aren't posting about a child that really affected history when they were a child. Some artists of various types, and others concerning other disciplines, might have been very influential in having an affect on history, but most of what they did that affected history concerned what they did was as an adult. I not speaking about any certain poster here. Only, that it can be difficult to discern/ascertain that which is the influence of a child on history as compared to an adult.

I guess I see Clough's point--but it's very hard to separate some of the most talented/famous children from their role as talented/famous adults.

Unless you're thinking of children like Shirley Temple, who were ONLY famous as children, which to me would be a silly distinction. Lovecraft, for example, was famous as an adult for his horror fiction--but was a child prodigy with published poems at the age of 6! Mozart composed his first pieces at the age of 5. Were they MORE famous/influential as adults than as children? Probably.

But as I said, I do see Clough's point.

Barbara Johns was an African American high school student who orchestrated and led a march in Prince Edward County, Virginia in an attempt to have the segregated African American School (Robert Russa Moton School) equal facilities with the white school. The case from Prince Edward was included in the Brown vs. Board of Education case which you referred to earlier with Linda Brown. Also Elizabeth Eckford and the Little Rock 9. Nine African American high school student who fought ridicule and angry crowds to go to a white high school after the Supreme Court ordered Little Rock to integrate.

P.S. Linda Brown was the child whose family filed ONE of the 5 individual cases (included Davis vs Prince Edward County that I mentioned before) included in the Brown vs. Board of Education Supreme Court Case which stated that separate schools do not provided an equal education

Umm Shirley Temple won her fame as a child actor, but is well known for her work with the UN and as a US Ambassador in her adult life.

What about the boy who stuck his finger in the dyke in Holland?

And wouldn't Jesus Christ count since he gained fame with his birth?

Alright, I have to throw this one in...

Pu Yi... The Child Emperor (The Last Emperor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) of China - also the last Imperial Emperor before the Republic of China was established. He was appointed as Emperor just before he turned 3.

(Having spent two years in China, its close to my heart)
