| | | Failing Geometry I failed the first semester with an average of a 68 total. I am now failing the report card grade of the 4th six weeks, with a 58, and there are three weeks till the actual report card period, and 12 weeks till the end of school. Meaning, the average of the first and second semesters still will not be passing, and no matter how hard I try I will not pass Geometry. I still don't want to suck even worse at it even though I know I wont pass the year and will have to re-take the course, so I want to do good on these next assignments and tests. How many hours per day do you think is essential for a person to ACE Geometry. I want at least an A on one of these report card periods and I have two chances left. Assume I will have a Geometry exam daily. Which in reality I will be having one tomorrow and I am pulling an all nighter for it tonight, in hopes of aceing it. It's a change of me from being lazy to becoming a harder worker and I hope we are all successful on endeavors such as these. | | | | | | |

Whatever you learn requires about 6 to 8 hours of good deep sleep to get stored in your memory ... |

| If the only reason you're failing is because you're lazy, then I think that as long as you do your homework, practice your geo, and read over your notes once or twice, you'll be fine. Just about 2-3 hours or maybe even less will do.
However, if you're failing because you don't understand, then I suggest you find someone to help or stay after for extra help. |

| Make sure you eat breakfast. My son swears that makes a difference when he takes a test. Like the others said don't deprive yourself of sleep, recent studies show thta people that are sleep deprived have the same reaction time as a person that is drunk. One last thing get off of this computer and study. Good Luck and use this as a tool for the rest of your high school. |

| Geometry is mostly memorization. Use your own made up flash cards. Look at them every waking moment.
You must realize that you need to be able to do the problems with the book closed. These are relaizations that may not be apparent.
Ask about tools like: Oscar had a headache over algebra. to remember sin, cos and tangent functions. |

| Are your difficulties with remembering the concepts of Geometry, solving the problems using Algebra or perhaps a bit of both?
I think you'd get great benefit from a tutor and devoting an hour or two each day of focused work. Tutors are a great idea for a few reasons, like a good work out at the gym with a trainer they keep you focused and working concepts in a logical order. Also, they might present topics in a way that makes more sense than how your current teacher is presenting them.
Whatever you decide to do I have to say that you shouldn't get discouraged or put it off until later. Get cracking and learn a little bit everyday and soon you'll be doing better. |
