Wondering if I need a new furnace blower motor

Just recently the blower motor on our furnace has started to emit a burning type smell and it is emitting noises that it never emitted in the past. I am thinking that the motor needs to be replaced, but, want to be sure it is not something else like the capacitor. I have tried to find a replacement motor by the model number on the motor (a GE model number) rather than by using the furnace model number (a Trane number) but can't seem to find the GE model number at any of the large electric motor distributors. Any suggestions on a reputable motor distributor would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can use any motor that is like the one that you take out. Same size shaft, same size diameter motor so it will fit the mounts, same speeds and the same number of speeds and I would look for the same amperage.

T-Top agrees: True get the HP, voltage, rpm and rotation the sameand get a new run capacitor rated for the new motor.
