First of all I want to thank these forums for helping my family get heat tonight. I woke up at about 3am knowing something was wrong. Sure enough the heater wasn't heating.

After looking over the heater myself and seeing a red blinking light I came to the panel that showed this was a "Pressure switch failure to close" problem.

Researching these forums helped me to even know what a pressure switch is and what it looks like. THANK YOU!

I pulled the vacuum hose and the power wires to the switch, ensuring the hose was clear and the wires were corrosion free.

When I plugged it all back in it is working fine and we have heat again!

MY QUESTION:

Both power wires to my pressure switch are yellow and I didn't keep track of which wire was plugged where. I get heat and the furnace works regardless of which position they are in.

Isn't there a proper way to have them hooked up? Or is it universal?

If there is a proper way, how do I know which wire goes to which lead?

It shouldn't make any difference. If it did, the wires should have been different colors. The furnace just looks at if the switch is closed and the wires connected.

Glad you found sticky. At 3 AM I was sleeping and couldn't have directed you to it until now.
