What is short cycling of an oil furnace
The furnace turns on then in a minute or so turns off again. Heat is coming out, but the on off cycles continue. We thought this might have something to do with the windy conditions outside today. The repairman said it seems to be short cycling but couldn't diagnose without looking at it and can't be here for another 4 hours and it's one of the coldest days we've had so far this winter.
