Two Thermostats to One

I currently have a seperate thermostat for the heater and the A/C.... I want to combine them into one thermostat... I have replaced the thermostat before, but my knowledge of the wiring is very basic... My issue is that I have two "R" wires and I am worried about combining them together since it is the '24 Vac Power to be switched.' My main concern is screwing up the units and/or causing some major electrical damage...

any info would be great... thanks in advance...

What type of furnace do you have? You should be able to combine them with no problem. Just use one of the reds and hook the white wire(Heat) to the new t-stat. The new stat will have a jumper between RC-RH, so 2 red wires will not be nessesary...
