no air at registers means no airflow through the house, meaning

at the air handler:

1. blower motor bad
2. blower motor run capacitor bad
3. coil dirty/ restricted due to obstruction or just face of coil dirty.
4. blower motor, etc not getting power from line voltage, thermostat green wire something along those lines

1 and 2 most common IMO. 3 next and 4 least likely.

all of this based on no airflow at register (or maybe just a breath)

also if you have #1,2 or 3 then usually the large copper line will have frost or be frozen up almost back to the compressor, if this is the case - stop running the unit asap - bad and expensive things start to happen

When you say the outside is working properly-- Condenser fan and compressor is working on the A/C? If the outside unit is running but you have no air blowing out the ducts, your going to have to check to see if the blower is RUNNING AT ALL on the air handler or if the evaporator coil is froze over not letting air pass through. Low air flow or low on refrigerant will cause a coil to freeze up not letting air flow pass through
